My family and I went on a vacation late fall of last year. We spent 8 magical days in Disney World! It was wonderful! If there is one thing about going to a major tourist spot, it’s the certainty that you will see a vast representation of diversity, both in culture and gadgets!

As we were strolling down Mainstreet USA, we were captivated at the amount of people taking “selfies” in front of the castle. What made this selfie experience so different was the long stick that was accompanying the picture~ the selfie stick! We immediately stopped, picked up our phone and Googled this new gadget! It was something we had never seen before and we were mesmerized! I mean, imagine being able to take a picture of your family without bugging other people that you don’t even know!

Let me give you a little history behind it. The selfie stick gained speed early last year in Southeast Asia. These genius gadgets cost anywhere from $7.99 to $79.99 and can fit nearly any phone size with its adjustable clamp. Most come with a blue tooth sensor and fold up small enough to fit in a purse or a book sack. They usually can extend up to 40 or 50 inches allowing plenty of room for all your selfies!

Who knows where 2015 will take the selfie stick! With over 100,000 selfie sticks sold just in the month leading up to Christmas in 2014, if you’re heading to a hot tourist spot this year, you are sure to see one. I think they are pretty genius and if nothing else, just a fun gadget to have! I brought mine to the office for our team to have a little fun! Check us out:
