If your team is anything like mine, you have several lines of communication, and you never know which one to check. To name a few we use Trello, a Facebook group, Facebook Messenger, Freckle, Rignite, When I Work, Dropbox, text messages, and of course, email. As you can imagine we sometimes get a bit frustrated and overwhelmed. This can be a huge problem and lead to miscommunication. As you continue reading, I’ll tell you all about a new tool my team and I started using called Slack.

Slack is a great new communication tool my team has started using that combines multiple forms of messaging and file sharing systems in one app. It integrates with Dropbox making it easy to share files. You create channels of communication about specific topics that your team members can choose to join or not. For example, in our Slack we have 7 channels created. However, I am not a part of all of them. I’m not a part of SEO or website admin, because I have nothing to do with that part of the company so there is no need for me to be getting notifications. Slack is great for staying organized and on task. You can also use it to send private messages to your team members or create a group message. We use to use a combination of a Facebook group and Facebook Messenger, but it became difficult to keep up with, and there were so many notifications. With Slack you can avoid getting too many notifications you can change your settings to set up hot words where you are only notified if someone mentions you or those specific hot words.

Not only can you set up hot words to use as notifications but there is this nifty little tool within Slack called Slackbot. Slackbot is a automated robot that can help you in so many ways. You can use Slackbot as your scratch paper and everything is searchable. You can also tell it to remind you to do something on a specific date and time. You can also activate other great features with in Slack to make your work life easier.

Slack makes communication with my team so easy and I love using it. It’s one of the best communication tools I’ve come across. It is beautifully designed, and brilliantly executed. There are apps available for iOS, Android, and there is also a Mac app. For those not using Mac or don’t want to download the Mac app you can enable desktop notifications so you don’t miss anything.

Oh, did I mention Slack’s FREE? You can use Slack for free as long as you want and with an unlimited number of people. You can upgrade for a monthly subscription to get more features.
